About us
This website illustrates the most recent outcomes of the research work on thermal energy storage which is ongoing at the Institute for Energy and Environmental Flows of the University of Cambridge. We outline below some of the key results of our research, and provide an overview of our recent publications in the field. Please do get in touch if you are also interested in heat and energy storage: we are always happy to cooperate with researchers and industry.
Our Research on Heat Storage
Decarbonising the heating and cooling of buildings represents one of the major challenges for the energy transition. Our research includes work on large-scale thermal energy storage in the subsurface, reuse of waste heat from data centres and industry, the energy savings associated with thermal mass in buildings, and realtime monitoring of college buildings in Cambridge. This work is ongoing: we will provide more insights and update the list of publications below as more results become available.
